Doubling the size of our team has been a crash course in clarity.
We’ve been building out the Covecta team and learning a lot along the way. Here are 5 lessons that hit hardest:
1/ Know exactly what you're hiring for.
Technical skills? Domain expertise? Both? Vague briefs lead to poor decisions and frustrated candidates. Clarity makes everything faster and fairer.
2/ Culture fit isn’t optional.
It’s not just about competence. We’re hiring people who add to the team, who help shape the culture we’re building, not just slot into it.
3/ Your network is just the start.
Yes, it’s gold. But it’s not enough. Push beyond your first-degree connections. The best people are often one intro away.
4/ Internal alignment speeds everything up.
You can’t move fast if you’re misaligned. When we’re clear as a team, we can filter better, decide quicker, and give candidates a smoother ride.
5/ Hire for the journey, not the destination.
We’re still evolving our product, shaping our ICP, and building the OS for financial institutions. We’re not offering a finished package, we’re inviting people to help create it.
What have we missed from this list?
